Optimal group size in microlending

چکیده
Microlending, where a bank lends to small group of people without credit histories, began with the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, and is widely seen as creation Muhammad Yunus, who received Nobel Peace Prize recognition his largely successful efforts. Since that time modeling microlending has fair amount academic attention. One issues not yet addressed full detail, however, issue size group. Some attention nevertheless been paid using an experimental game theory approach. We, instead, take mathematical approach optimal size, goal minimize probability default To do this, one create model interacting forces, make precise hypotheses model. We show original choice five people, is, under right, and, we believe, reasonable hypotheses, either close optimal, or even at times exactly i.e., indeed people.

متن کاملOptimal Group Size in Joint Liability Contracts
We develop a model of repeated microcredit lending to study how group size affects optimal group-lending contracts with joint liability. In the setting being studied, a benevolent lender provides microcredit to a group of borrowers to invest in projects. The outcome of each risky project is not observable by the lender; therefore, if some of the borrowers default on their loan repayments, the l...
متن کاملThe optimal group size in microcredit contracts
We analyze a model of a repeated microcredit lending and study how group size affects the optimal group lending contracts with joint liability. The story is that one benevolent lender gives microcredit to a group of n borrowers to be invested on n projects. The outcome of each risky project is not observable by the lender. Therefore in case some of the borrowers default on their loan repayments...
متن کاملOptimal group size in a highly social mammal.
Group size is an important trait of social animals, affecting how individuals allocate time and use space, and influencing both an individual's fitness and the collective, cooperative behaviors of the group as a whole. Here we tested predictions motivated by the ecological constraints model of group size, examining the effects of group size on ranging patterns and adult female glucocorticoid (s...
متن کاملNeural Affective Mechanisms Predict Market-Level Microlending
Humans sometimes share with others whom they may never meet or know, in violation of the dictates of pure self-interest. Research has not established which neuropsychological mechanisms support lending decisions, nor whether their influence extends to markets involving significant financial incentives. In two studies, we found that neural affective mechanisms influence the success of requests f...
